Project

This Data warehouse project covered several banking functions.  Accelerated Solutions led bank data administration staff in logical database modeling sessions.  The objective was to identify those customers and non-customers who were either very profitable, or had the potential to become very profitable, and develop strategies to evaluate various methods of attraction and retention.  Performed the following activities:

 

Initial Warehouse – Asset Liability Management
  • Initial subject area brought in data from 7 application sources.  The bank’s warehouse   architecture and strategy for additional subject areas was formalized.  Designed to bring in financial and product characteristic (product features affecting financial returns) data to support a variety of A/L analysis.

  • Held data requirement sessions, documented data requirements.

  • Led data modeling sessions, worked with bank resource to design the logical data model.

  • Participated in physical data model.

  • Assisted in the establishment of standards for the logical model.

  • Worked with the corporate technology group to clarify and evolve the corporate data warehousing strategy.

  • Worked with acquisition staff – assisted in identification of transformation requirements, data verification (balancing to general ledger) strategy.

Retail Marketing

  • This subject area greatly expanded the customer information portion of the warehouse model.

  • Added 13 application sources.  Expanded customer base to be included to 9+ million.  Introduced customer demographics, behavioral tracking capability.  Although release one of this subject area was geared towards campaign management, additional data was modeled to support analytical modeling and knowledge worker analysis of customer base.

  • Deliverables: 2 Logical models (extensions of the current warehouse model and the model for the Retail Marketing data store (mart) and Physical Data Model for Retail.

  • Held requirements sessions/modeling sessions.

  • Mentored bank staff in data requirements gathering and modeling.

  • Worked with Exchange Applications to insure logical and physical models met campaign management software (ValEX) requirements.
